Clinical Event Debriefing
Clinical Event Debriefing, known as Hot Debriefing, has some of the following:
Takes place as soon as possible after an important clinical event.
Are brief.
As many of the multidisciplinary team are able to join the debrief.
Clarifies what happened, what went well, what could be improved.
Offers an opportunity to make sense of what happened, reduce uncertainties and start working on things that need improving.
Making these happen regularly in EDs is difficult due to competing demands.
How can these be embedded into the culture of our EDs? A Quality Improvement approach may help to embed this practice.
Feel free to download and modify these for your own ED.
