QILS:

A means to engage and empower staff to improve quality of care

ED staff want to provide high quality healthcare.

When there are problems with care, especially problems that seem avoidable, patients, whānau, and staff suffer. Improving care is not easy. Engagement and empowerment of staff is considered an important component of workplace wellbeing.

A system that engages and empowers staff to improve quality of care in their ED may improve workplace wellbeing, reduce burnout, and be better for everyone.

How this is done will be different in each workplace, and will take time to develop. There cannot be a “one size fits all” approach. Please discuss with your colleagues, leaders, and the research team, about what is happening at your ED. And keep an eye on this page for developments.
